SHO suspended for negligence of duty

SARGODHA, Nov 6: Saddar SHO Mehr Atta Muhammad Luk was suspended on Wednesday for showing negligence in arresting ex-MPA Chaudhry Farrukh Javed Ghuman after the rejection of his bail.

Chaudhry Ghuman was involved in attacking ex-MNA Haji Javed Iqbal Cheema on the polling day on Oct 10. Saddar police had registered a case against Ghuman, his two sons, son-in-law and 20 accomplices. The complainant had also levelled allegations of abetment against Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema.

Police had rejected the allegations of JI leader and held that Mr Ghuman had slapped Mr Cheema and none of the accused nominated or unknown were found armed with lethal weapons. Police had not only deleted the anti-terrorism section but also made an attempt to arrange compromise between the two rivals. JI leaders, including Dr Arshad Shahid, bitterly criticised the police for showing undue favour to the PML-Q leader.
