LAHORE: Taking yet another U-turn, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to include former Test batsman Ijaz Ahmed in the team management as assistant coach for the Zimbabwe tour, starting from Aug 26.
“On the request of the team management, Ijaz Ahmed is appointed as the assistant coach. He will travel with the team for Pakistan’s tour to Zimbabwe,” a short news release of the PCB stated on Thursday.
Earlier, the PCB had axed Aaqib Javed as national team’s assistant coach. However, later head coach Waqar Younis requested the PCB to name an assistant coach.
On Wednesday, the PCB reversed its own decision when it included young talented batsman Usman Salahuddin in the stipend category of central contracts. Earlier, Usman was missing in the original list of 28 centrally-contracted players announced by the board.
