LAHORE, Aug 16: An alleged robber was injured in a crossfire with the police after a house robbery in Umer Colony of Green Town on Tuesday.

The police took the injured into custody and shifted him to Jinnah Hospital for treatment.

Green Town police said two armed men looted nine tolas of gold ornaments and a cell phone from the house of Sumaira Irshad and escaped on foot. A neighbour alerted the Rescue 15 police and within minutes Sattokatla Mohafiz Force officials and a local police vehicle confronted them.

The suspects opened fire at the police which was retaliated. The crossfire left one of the suspects injured. The other managed to escape.

The injured robber was identified as Tipu Khan, of Shahdara, while his runaway accomplice is Abdullah Khan.

The police recovered three tolas of jewellery and a cell phone from the accused.
