KHAIRPUR, Nov 5: A meeting of the district price control committee was held here on Tuesday.

It was presided over by the executive district officer (finance).

The committee decided that during the holy month of Ramazan shortage of daily-use commodities would not be allowed and they would be sold according to the prescribed rates.

It decided that those violating the rules would be jailed up to three years or fined upto Rs-100,000 or both according to the law.

The rates of commodities were fixed in consultation with the representatives of various traders associations.

It was decided that Bachat bazaars would be organized during Ramazan wherein wholesalers and retailers would be contacted to set up stalls.

It was decided that items like fruits and vegetables, whose rates are changed daily, would be allowed to be sold on a 10 per cent profit basis and all the hotels would remain closed during fasting hours.

The meeting decided that magistrates would be appointed to check inflation and those found guilty would be punished on the spot.
