Missing person found dead

ATTOCK, Aug 14: A person, who had been missing for the last a few days, was found murdered on Sunday. Police sources said that Mohammad Afzal, resident of Kamra village had been missing from the house for the last a few days. On Saturday evening, his decomposed body was found from a deserted place near Hattian village of Hazro police station. Police said that he was killed somewhere else and the body was thrown there by the unknown accused to cover the crime. Hazro police registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile, Noor Mohammad, a serviceman was killed in Kot Chachi village of Jand police station. Police registered a murder case against the unidentified killers and further investigation was underway. — Correspondent

PO arrested

CHAKWAL, Aug 14: A proclaimed offender involved in a number of robberies was arrested, police said on Sunday. According to sources, SHO Saddar police station Tanvveer Warraich along with his team raided the hideout of PO Zaheer Abbas alias Zaheera Maachi, a resident of Khokar Zer village and arrested him. Police said that the PO along with his accomplices was looting the people for the last many months.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Sa’adat Saeed on a tip-off, raided a hotel at General Bus Stand on Sunday and arrested the owner of the hotel Noor Zaman as he could not produce the permit for opening the hotel during the day in Ramazan. Three other persons Ghulam Hussain, Ahmad Khan and Mohammad Yusuf who were having lunch at the hotel were also arrested. — Correspondent

Stolen car recovered

TAXILA, Aug 14: The National Highways and Motorway Police on Saturday foiled a bid to smuggle a stolen car from Rawalpindi to Peshawar and arrested the alleged car lifter.

The NHMP said after getting information that a car (LED- 6611) had been stolen from the Airport police limits, surveillance was mounted o the motorway. Later, the vehicle was spotted near Burhan interchange which was being driven by the accused using a fake number plate (RLC 1525). The NHMP intercepted the car and arrested the accused identified as Adnan Shaukat.

Meanwhile, the Hassanabdal police raided a distillery in village Shahiya and recovered over 1,000 bottles of liquor. The owner of the distillery, Nusrat Khan, was also arrested.— Correspondent

National unity urged

ATTOCK, Aug 14: The Independent Day calls upon the nation to forge unity and promote tolerance, patience, brotherhood and peace in the society.

These views were expressed by Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Sheikh Aftab Ahmed while addressing the flag hoisting ceremony at the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Sunday in connection with Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people including government officials. He said that the dictators had severely damaged the Quaid’s vision based on the principles of supremacy of law and constitution, respect to humanity, justice and equality. —Correspondent
