GUJRANWALA, Nov 3: Over 1,300 teachers (male and female), who were recruited for elementary and secondary educational institutions in the district some two months ago, are still deprived of their salaries for lack of notification.
At a meeting held here on Sunday, teachers expressed their resentment over the government policy.
They said they were performing their professional duties regularly, but their salaries were not being disbursed by the Education department.
Whenever they approached the district education officer and district accounts office for the release of their salaries, they were informed that the notification of their appointments had not been issued by the government.
They demanded that the government should direct the Education department to pay their two-month salaries instantly after completing their service books and other formalities.
When contacted, district Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha said the salaries of teachers would be disbursed immediately after the release of funds by the Punjab government.
