SIALKOT, Nov 3: Thousands of employees of the Pakistan Postal Services Corporation will go on a token hunger strike in Sialkot and Narowal districts on Monday to protest against the allegedly harsh attitude of the Punjab director general of post offices towards them.

The call for strike has been given by the National Organization of Postal Employees (NOPE).

According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the postal employees would set up camps in front of GPOs in Sialkot city and cantonment, Daska, Bhopalwala, Begowala, Ugoki, Sambrial, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda, Shakargarh, Zafarwal, Baddumalhi and Narowal, where they would be on strike from 9am to 4pm.

CAMPAIGN: The Sialkot food department has decided to launch a drive against profiteers and black-marketers to control prices in Ramzan.

Talking to delegations of local businessmen in Daska, Assistant Food Controller Syed Sayyaf Ali Gillani said implementation of the prices fixed after consultation with traders would be ensured at every cost. He said the food department would make all-out efforts to ensure supply of daily use items on subsidised rates. — Correspondent
