Demo held against Dr Amir’s arrest

MIRPURKHAS, Nov 2: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal held a demonstration here on Saturday against the arrest of Dr Amir Aziz.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamaat-i-Islami leader Aziz-ur- Rehman Khan, Maulana Ramzan Rehmani and Hafiz Jameel Baloch said that Pakistan had become a colony of the United State because of policies of the military rulers.

They demanded immediate release of the doctor, failing which, they threatened, scope of the protest would be widened.

They also called for unity among the Muslim Ummat.

FRAUD: A peon of the office of the EDO, education, Mirpurkhas, was deprived of the staff salary amount by fraudulent means by four unidentified car occupants here on Saturday.

The peon, Ganhwar Khan Lashari, was on his way after drawing salary of his colleagues from the National Bank at Hyderabad road when the occupants of a car offered to doubled the amount.

After he gave Rs8700 to the car occupants, they gave him a handkerchief, containing some papers and left.

As the peon unfolded handkerchief, he found pieces of papers in it.

The city police chased the accused but failed to trace them. However, their abandoned car (ABL 870) was found near Bilaro Shakh.

The police have registered a case.

ARMS: The city police have recovered a sizable quantity of arms and ammunition in a raid.

On a tip-off, a police party surrounded an under construction house, belonging to Abdul Sami, and recovered two Kalashnikovs, a rifle, 5 guns, 108 bullets and three magazines.

The TPO opined that the weapons were meant for carrying out subversive activities in the city.

The police have registered a case against unidentified accused.
