
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government has started giving compensation to flood hit farmers and growers of Lower Dir district whose crops and animals were destroyed in last years devastating floods. The flood hit farmers of Thesils Khaal, Balambut and Timergara were given Rs2400 per acre.
The amount was distributed during a function held at the office of Executive Magistrate Timergara, Noor Wali Khan Wazir, which was also attended by EDO Agriculture Dr Mehfoz Rehman.
The Khyber Pakthunkhwa government has distributed Rs16.2 million among 5000 flood affected farmers of three union councils of Dir Lower district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Magistrate Timergara Noor Wali Khan said that government accords high priority for rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood affected families and will utilize all available resources to improve their socio economic condition.
The compensation to farmers is being given on basis of detailed survey and documentations. The official said the affected farmers would not be left alone and the government would continue to provide facilities till they stand on their own feet. On this occasion, the farmers assured full support to them.
