India were left hoping Zaheer Khan would regain full fitness overnight after Jonathan Trott led England's recovery on the rain-marred, opening day of the first Test at Lord's on Thursday. England, having lost the toss in overcast seam bowler-friendly conditions, closed on their tea score of 127 for two after rain washed out the day's final session in what was the 2,000th Test in history.
