KARACHI, Nov 1: The city government has formed various committees to check prices of edible items during the holy month of Ramazan.

The price list of food items would be sent after review to the City Nazim in the next two days for final approval.

In a meeting presided over by DCO Karachi at the Civic Centre on Thursday, representatives of traders announced reduction in prices of edible items voluntarily so that people could get the items at reasonable prices during Ramazan.

Various committees, comprising manufacturers, shopkeepers, consumers and representatives of the city government, were set up to check standard of food items, including ghee, pakora flour, oil, bread, etc. Shopkeepers have been asked to cooperate and point out manufacturers of substandard items.

Another committee was formed to review reduction in price of meat, dates, vegetables, fruits and beverages while it was decided that price list of perishable items would be issued on a daily basis to ensure price stability. For this purpose, DDOs would be stationed in Sabzi Mandi.—PPI
