SWABI, July 19: Two persons were killed and one was injured when two groups clashed over a piece of land here on Tuesday.

Police said families of Sher Shah Khan and Istikhar Khan advocate of Ismalia had a dispute over a just six square feet piece of land, which was being used for throwing garbage.

A local journalist told this correspondent on Tuesday, members of a jirga also tried to settle the dispute but failed.

The journalist said Istikhar Khan group shot dead Bakhat Shaid from the rival family at his house after he refused to be on their side. In return, the brothers of the deceased killed Istikhar while fleeing, and injuring another man, Saiful Islam.

PRICE CONTROL:

The district price control committee (DPCC) will meet soon to finalise prices of various commodities and vegetables for the upcoming month of Ramazan, sources in the district administration said on Tuesday.

They said District Coordination Officer Mohammad Shah had directed the tehsil municipal officer to finalise the meeting and ensure participation of all concerned officials to devise a mechanism for price control in Ramazan.
