LAHORE, July 17: Jamea al-Muntazar, a known Shia seminary in the provincial metropolis, has condemned the release of Malik Ishaq, terming it a risk to peace in the country.

“The Jamea al-Muntazar strongly condemns the release of banned Sipah-i-Sahaba's callous terrorist Malik Ishaq who is involved in the murder of several innocent citizens and is wanted in various terrorism cases,” it said in a statement issued to the media on Sunday.

It regretted that the Punjab government, instead of keeping behind the bars under various sections of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), the “cruel person who has ruined scores of households” has released him despite his “confessions” and other “established evidences”.

The statement said slain SSP Ashraf Marth had been killed by the banned outfit for exposing before the press the crimes of Malik Ishaq who had been given capital punishment on eight counts by the Lahore High Court.

Urging the chief minister to take notice of the 'sensitive issue' and order a strict action against the elements openly announcing support for this “terrorist” to prove his (CM's) claims of restoring peace in the province.
