KARACHI, Oct 31: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) said on Thursday it had struck a new deal to supply 60,000 tons of JP-1 jet fuel to coalition forces in Afghanistan.

PSO spokesman Abbas Rizvi told Reuters the one-year contract would run until October 15, 2003.

“We have won this second supply contract after stiff competition and supplies started from October 16,” he said.

Pakistan’s largest oil marketing firm had supplied 65,000 tons of jet oil and high-speed diesel to coalition forces in the August to October period through a sub-contract.

The spokesman said the state-run firm had been supplying the petroleum products to a Singapore-based American company, World Fuel Services Corp, the main supplier of JP-1 and other petroleum products to the coalition forces.

Rizvi said the supplies were for coalition forces stationed at Jacobabad in Pakistan as well as Bagram and Kandahar in Afghanistan.—Reuters
