KARACHI, Oct 30: Karachi Grammar School beat The Lyceum School by 19 runs in the Rev. Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament seminfinal Wednesday.

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Karachi Grammar School scored 191 for the loss of eight wickets in their 35 allotted overs thanks to skipper Ali Abbas Khatawala (46) and Omayr Shaikh (33).

Left-arm leg-spinner Farhan Lakhani was the pick of The Lyceum attack bagging three wickets for 14 runs.

The Lyceum School needing 192 runs for victory were in dire straits losing their four front line batsmen with only 68 runs on the board.

However Bilal Bhatti (33) and Ali Sohail (38), tried to pull their team out of the woods, but their valiant effort was not enough.

The Lyceum fell short of the victory target by 20 runs after reaching 172 for the loss of nine wickets in their 35 stipulated overs.

For the Karachi Grammar School, the wickets were shared by Wasay Anjum two for 23, Umer Qasim two for 32 and Ali Abbas two for 37.
