HYDERABAD, Oct 30: Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, MNA-elect of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and its president (Sindh), has said that his party had made it abundantly clear to the People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) that it would not join hands with the PPP if it formed a coalition government with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

He was talking to a group of newsmen in Latifabad the other day.

He claimed that the MMA was striving hard for forming an effective government in the centre as well as in the provinces in order to solve the problems of the masses.

He claimed that apart from Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, president, PPP (Sindh), Syed Qaim Ali Shah had also been contacted.

He said that the MMA had made it absolutely clear to the PPP that it would prefer to sit on opposition benches in the Sindh assembly in case the PPP opted for a coalition government with the MQM.

He said that the PPP could form a coalition government with the support of independent candidates, the PML-F, and the MMA.

He stated that the MMA gave preference to solving people’s problems over power politics.

He said that the religious parties’ alliance would solve the problems of women, youths, and minorities and would make all-out efforts to eliminate joblessness.

He claimed that the law and order situation would also be improved.

Referring to the deteriorating situation at government hospitals and educational institutions, he said that due consideration would be given to these two important sectors to improve their performance.

MNAs-elect Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair (MMA), Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote (PPP), and MPAs-elect Rehman Rajput (MMA), and Zahid Bhurgari (PPP) were also present on the occasion.

JOURNALIST’S REMAND: The Bhittai Nagar police obtained a two-day custody remand of the chief reporter of daily Ibrat, Sarfaraz Vistro, following registration of a case against him by an official of the State Bank the other day.

Mr Sarfaraz was arrested by the police in the wee hours of Thursday along with his two brothers in Bhittai Nagar after a State Bank official, Sohail Leghari, called the police through police control.

Mr Sarfaraz had an altercation with the official and he called the police. He lodged a case claiming that the journalist had threatened him of dire consequences.

Following the registration of an FIR, the journalist was produced before a civil judge, Abida Parvez, who remanded him to police custody till Saturday.

The case against Mr Sarfaraz was lodged under sections 506(2), 147, 148, and 149 PPC.
