KARACHI, Oct 29: Almost all the major political parties in the country, except the Pakistan Muslim League (Q), have alleged pre- and post-poll rigging in the elections in which the regime favoured the kings party, while in those constituencies where candidates of the opposition parties were returned, their results have been changed through manipulation.

This was stated by Mir Baz Khan Khethran, a PPP leader from Balochistan, who had contested elections from NA-263 and where recounting has been ordered after a controversy over the outcome of the elections.

Talking to a group of journalists on Tuesday, Mr Khethran said he had boycotted the process as the ongoing recounting by an official of the election commission was not acceptable to him.

He reiterated his demand that either an inquiry be held into the rigging allegations under the supervision of a high court judge or re-polling should be ordered in the constituency.

He said the way in which holding of assemblies’ session was being delayed indicated that the rulers have been playing with the public mandate and power would be transferred only after ensuring the status quo.
