Rafay stars for St. Michael’s

KARACHI, Oct 28: St. Michael’s Convent School made a strong bid to reach the semifinal of the Rev. Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament, after handing out a three-wicket defeat to The City School PAF Chapter, Saturday.

The City School scored 135 for six wickets in their 25 allotted overs with Hasnat Mazhar unbeaten 50. Fahad Ansari chipped in with 19 runs.

Chasing 136 runs for victory, St. Michael’s reached 137 n 23.2 overs for seven wickets. Skipper and left-handed opening bat Rafay Safdar, held the innings together with a superb knock of 45 and was later declared the Man of the Match. Hasan Sajjad bagged two wickets for 26 runs for the losing side.

So far, three schools St. Patrick’s High School, Karachi Grammar School and The Lyceum have reached the semifinal stage.
