KARACHI, June 12: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday recorded the confessional statements of two alleged militants booked in a number of criminal cases.

The CID police arrested Mohammad Saleem and Rizwan in the SITE area on June 23 and claimed to have recovered illicit weapons and explosive substance from their possession. They also claimed that the suspects were associated with a banned militant outfit.

The suspects were produced before a judicial magistrate (west), who recorded their confessional statements under Section 164 of CrPC. Later, the court remanded them in jail custody and directed the investigation officer to submit their charge-sheets.

A number of cases were registered against them under sections 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempt to commit premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code; sections 13-D and 13-E of the Arms Ordinance and Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the CID police station.

Meanwhile, the same court extended the physical remand of another alleged activist of a banned outfit in an illicit weapon case till July 2.

The CID police stated that suspect Nazeer Ahmed was arrested near Banaras Chowk and was wanted in a number of cases registered in Swat.
