KARACHI, Oct 28: A Pesh Imam (prayer leader) was killed while his cousin received injuries in an attack on Monday in Bahadurabad.

Police said Ataul Mohsin Raza, 32, along with his cousin Hafiz Ghulam Nazir, was riding on a motorcycle when two unknown motorcyclists near Alamgir mosque of Bahadurabad opened fire on them and fled.

The victims fell onto the ground crying for help. Some people of the area took them to a nearby private hospital where Mohsin died. Nazir is stated to be undertreatment.

A senior police official said Mohsin was an activist of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazlur Rehman). He was booked in an FIR registered at the Surjani Town police station for allegedly killing a man.

The police said Mohsin had also been facing a trial for allegedly occupying a mosque. He had also been detained under the Maintenance of Public Order for 60 days in March for delivering provocative public speeches.
