LAHORE, June 22: A 22-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified people at a rented quarter near Bao Hotel in Naulakha early on Wednesday.

Naulakha police identified the man as Muhammad Sajjad of Swabi who had been living with his cousin in a quarter and would work in Lunda Bazaar.

Sajjad was asleep when three unidentified people knocked at the door of the quarter and called him outside. As Sajjad came out of his quarter, one of the assailants fired a shot at him and fled.

He was transported to a nearby hospital by his fellow residents, but he did not survive. Police suspected Sajjad was killed over an enmity. His body was sent for an autopsy.

DROWNS:

A 21-year-old man was feared drowned in the Ravi near Old Ravi Bridge in Shahdara on Wednesday.

An Edhi volunteer said Muhammad Islam, a resident of a nearby locality, drowned when he went into deep water along with his buffaloes.

Rescue 1122 divers were searching for Islam when this report was filed on Wednesday evening.
