KARACHI, June 21: Two officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board were injured in an attack reportedly by some members of the ‘hydrant mafia’ in Ayub Goth, Landhi, on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the KWSB said that the employees were attacked and injured by ‘hydrant mafia people’ when they along with their colleagues were busy in severing unlawful water connections which the operators of some illegal hydrants had taken from the utility’s main pipelines.

Regretting that the incident took place in the presence of the police, the spokesman said that an FIR would be lodged with the police station concerned.

Meanwhile, KWSB on Tuesday disconnected water and sewerage connections of several industrial units in Landhi and Federal B’ Area industrial zones.—Staff Reporter
