KARACHI, Oct 27: Every bachat bazaar in the city will have a complaint centre along with a stall of weights and measures where buyers could check the weight of items purchased by them.

Besides, each stall will have a stall number, name of the stall-holder and other necessary details so as to help a buyer in case he wishes to lodge a complaint.

This decision was taken by DCO Shafiqur Rehman Paracha during a visit to Mahmodabad Sunday Bazaar along with Shah Mahmood Hussain Syed, EDO, enterprise and investment department.

The DCO asked the officials of the city government’s enterprise and investment promotion department to focus on improving the system of weekly bachat bazaars so as to ensure availability of items at prices less than the market price so that the objective of providing quality and reasonable priced items to people could be met.

The DCO also called for improved cleanliness conditions at these bazaars and said the help of towns should be obtained in this regard.

He said at places where the towns will have to do more arrangements than the normal assistance, then their needs will be met with the approval of the City Nazim.

He directed that it should be ensured that stall holders do display the prices of items.

During a visit to bachat bazaars, chief secretary K.B. Rind had issued directives for streamlining its functioning and had issued orders for setting up of complaints centres and issuance of permissions to widows and handicapped persons for setting up stalls without any charges so that they could earn their livelihood with dignity.

In the light of the directives of the chief secretary, the DCO had called a meeting of officials of department of enterprise and investment promotion as well as organisers of bachat bazaars on Tuesday.—APP
