MULTAN, Oct 26: Inspectors of the local office of Environment Protection Department (EPD) ended their strike on Friday on the intervention of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA).
The environment inspectors had gone on strike last Wednesday to protest against the transfer of their colleague Abdullah Kamran from Multan to Sargodha. They alleged that the recently posted district environment officer had a hand in the transfer.
However, local office-bearers of APCA visited the EPD office on Friday and convinced the strikers that transfers were a part of government job and protesting against them would not be a wise decision.
Talking to Dawn, EDO (environment) Mian Khalid said the EPD had become ineffective in Multan due to a group of officials who had been there for a long time, but seldom bothered to execute their duties. He said the transferred environment inspector had been in Multan for more than 10 years.
