ISLAMABAD, Oct 26: The information minister, Nisar Memon, culture minister, S.K Tressler (retired) and secretary information, Syed Anwar Mehmood, on Saturday expressed their heartfelt condolence over the tragic death of three officials of the NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).

The ministers and the secretary met the family members of the deceased, who had come here to receive the bodies of NHK officials, who died in a road accident on October 24.

The unfortunate NHK officials were returning after shooting a documentary film in the Northern Areas and chose to travel by road after the cancellation of their flight. Their jeep fell into a deep ravine near Chillas, killing them on the spot.

Those who killed are Shojun Hata, the NHK executive director, Kiyoshi Honda, the cameraman and Taro Takeuchi, the technical staff. Their Pakistani driver was also killed in the accident.

The information minister, talking to the family members, described their death as “a very unfortunate incident”.

He prayed for the family members to bear this loss with courage.

He also offered sympathy with them on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan and said they fully share their grief and sorrow.

He appreciated the commitment of the deceased to their professional obligations and said they would be remembered for their devotion and dedication to their profession.

The culture minister paid tributes to the NHK and its team who were working on a documentary in the Northern Areas for producing a serial “Eurasia: trend of 21st century, focus on cross-culture of countries” to build up the image of Pakistan.—APP
