RAWALPINDI, June 15: Taking cognizance of illegal construction of commercial buildings at 5th Road, Satellite Town, Rawal Town Administrator Saif Anwar Jappa on Wednesday directed the building inspector to present him the site plans of these buildings today (Thursday).

He warned the building inspector that a departmental inquiry would be initiated against him if he failed to produce the site plans of these illegally constructed commercial buildings.

The RTMA officials told Dawn that the administrator visited 5th Road and asked the owners of the five under construction buildings to produce the copies of the approved building plans by RTMA but they failed to comply.

The administrator directed the area building inspector to provide him the documents of the buildings and if the buildings plans were not approved by the RTMA, he would take stern departmental action against him for allowing the owners to construct buildings without getting approval from the RTMA.

He also held a meeting of the building department and directed the officials to clear all 192 pending applications for the approval of buildings site plans within two weeks.

He said that the people complained that the RTMA building department was delaying the process and demanding bribe for the approval. He said that he would eliminate corruption from the department and provide better civic facilities to the people.

He directed the building department officials to approve the building site plans according to the rules and regulations. He said that the compound committee would also be formed which would evaluate the cases of those people who constructed the buildings in violation of the rules. He said that after imposing fines, the compound committee would approve the violators' building site plans.
