
KARACHI: Pakistani squash player Farhan Mehboob, who recently overtook Pakistan’s top squash player Aamir Atlas Khan in international rankings, vowed to lift his international rankings further by performing well in upcoming events.
“I am delighted to be the top Pakistani squash player. However, my aim is not only to become top Pakistani player but I am also looking forward to perform well in upcoming international assignments to better my international rankings as well,” the left-handed squash player, Farhan told PPI.
Farhan said that he would participate in the upcoming Jena International Squash Championship, starting 15th June in Kuwait City, as second seed.
“I will participate in the squash championship in Kuwait as second seed. The championship will be played from 15th to 18th June,” said the 28th world-circuit ranked player.
He said that his cousin Aamir Atlas Khan, who is ranked 29th in international rankings, is the first seed, as the seedings of the tournament were announced before the change in the rankings.
“But in CIMB Malaysian Open Championship, where top international players would participate, I am seeded ninth, while Aamir is seeded 11th,” Farhan said.
Malaysian Open Championship is scheduled to run from 20th to 23rd July in Kuala Lumpur.
Farhan explained that he is undergoing extensive training and will be participating in the tournaments with high spirits to lift his international rankings.
