HYDERABAD, Oct 24: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has urged the science scholars to produce result-oriented research work, which could benefit the society and the nation as a whole.
He was presiding over the final PhD seminar on “Development, characterization and industrial applications of polymer/ fibre composites” in the Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh, on Thursday.
The vice chancellor said that scholars had to play an important role in the development of the country through result-oriented research in their respective fields.
He said that research was of no use if it did not benefit the society, and added that the young scholars must concentrate on those fields which may prove helpful for the development of the country.
He lauded the presentation by the research scholar for his PhD research thesis and expressed the hope that this research work would help the society.
He also congratulated the scholar for his excellent research work for his PhD degree.
Research scholar Faud Ahmed Al-Durrani in his presentation on “Development, characterization and industrial applications of polymer/fibre composites” said that the abundance of polymeric waste material produced by textile and plastic industry presents an exciting opportunity for low-cost structural material.
He said that as the cost of landfill was increasing there was an urge to find applications for these products.
He said that most wood products were currently made of re-cycled wood chips from the sawmills.
Its replacement with reinforced thermostat composite materials as secondary load-bearing materials must possess adequate mechanical and physical properties, reduced undesirable emissions, and its manufacturing costs could be favourably compared with the replaced material.
