RAWALPINDI, Oct 23: Seven people were injured, two of them critically, when a bomb exploded here on Wednesday night, on College Road, near Bohar Bazaar.

Police and bomb disposal experts said the explosive device, placed under a pushcart between two cars, near Imam Bargah Colonel Maqbool, went off at 7:37pm. The blast also damaged six vehicles. Immediately after the blast, the markets were closed.

“The bomb which was not more than 200 grams was put in a plastic bag”, Inayatullah Farooqi, the superintendent of city police said.

The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where two of them — Izhar Abbasi, 50, and Akhtar, 30 — are stated to be in critical condition.

The other five, who were allowed to go home after providing first aid, were identified as Azmatullah; Habibur Rehman, 23; Akhtar Zaman, 30; Amir and Hamaish Gul.
