RAWALPINDI, Oct 23: Civil Judge Sajida Ahmad on Wednesday issued arrest warrants of an army brigadier for allegedly not paying dower to his ex-wife and not appearing before the court despite receiving summons.

The judge issued the warrants in a suit filed by Saima Zaman against her ex-husband Brig Raza Ahmad Khan, who is posted at Kharian.

DRUG TRAFFICKERS SENTENCED: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Shafi on Wednesday awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to a drug trafficker.

The convict, Younas Tariq, was also fined Rs10,000, and would have to undergo another six months of imprisonment in case of non-payment.

According to Airport police, the convict had tried to smuggle over one kg charas last year.

In another case, the same court issued show-cause notice to the SHO of Civil Line Police Station for failing to obey the court orders.

The court also rejected the bail application of an accused, Talhah Mohammad, for allegedly having links with a gang that had committed a robbery in the jurisdiction of Westridge Police Station.

The same court also rejected the bail application of an accused, Zakir Hussain.

According to Airport police, the accused had allegedly deprived one of his relatives of his valuable.

EXONERATED: Anti-corruption court judge Mian Mohammad Aslam exonerated a Patwari of corruption charges due to lack of evidence.

The Patwari, Waqar, posted at Jehlum, was allegedly involved in a corruption case of Rs44,000.

The same court also accepted a bail application of another Patwari of Kahota District, who had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs25,000.
