ISLAMABAD, May 28: As many as 100 children took part in a singing competition at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) under a talent hunt programme on Saturday.

The children mesmerised the audience with their skills at the show organised by children art workshop of the PNCA.

The participants were selected from different auditions in which children from various educational and art institutions of twin cities participated and showed their talent.

These budding and talented young artists presented different kinds of songs as they were provided with a platform to explore their hidden abilities and creativity.

Ali Kamal from F.G. Sir Syed Boys School got first position while Majeedur Rehman from Ali Trust College remained second and Sharik Qamar of Beaconhouse and Iman Mirza from Sir Syed School Rawalpindi third and fourth.

Director General PNCA Tauqeer Nasir distributed certificates among the participants. The event was planned to provide recreational opportunities to the children and engage them in positive and healthy activities.

Mr Nasir said the basic idea behind the talent hunt programme was to utilise the energy of youth at a level of exploration with a proper platform for supporting their inner abilities.

The talent discovery project invites students and youth to participate in the programme while PNCA selects talent in the field of singing, dancing, comparing, drama and dialogue through various workshops.

After completion of the workshops, the participants also get a chance to perform in different programmes of PNCA. — APP
