ISLAMABAD, Oct 23: President of People’s Party Parliamentarians, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, called on chief of National Alliance and former caretaker prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi as a part of his on-going talks for the formation of a consensus government.
The two leaders, who met here for more than one hour, agreed that the political parties should rise to the occasion and demonstrate cooperation and adjustment in the larger interest of democratic process.
The democratic process should be given a chance and PPP would try its utmost to avert any deadlock in the formation of government and transfer of power.
He refuted reports that in his meeting with PML(Q) leader, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, they had taken up the issue of sharing government portfolios in the future government. He said they had discussed broad parameters on which the two parties could form a government of national consensus.
He denied that they had discussed the details of power- sharing or specifics of the future cooperation. National Alliance in the Oct-10 elections has emerged as the fourth largest group with a tally of 13 seats in the National Assembly, equivalent to the seats secured by Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
