ABBOTTABAD: A CIA team inspected the Osama bin Laden compound in Abbottabad on Friday after Islamabad’s permission.

Sources said a CIA team, which consisted of three to five members, came in a helicopter and landed in Abbottabad at about 10.30am. They spent more than six hours in the compound and left the city around 5pm.

Police and other sources did not confirm the visit, but some eyewitnesses said they had seen an unusual movement of vehicles outside the compound under tight security.

The compound has been under the control of the army and other law enforcement agencies since May 2. Nobody is allowed to pass the surrounding area and streets leading to the compound.

The sources confirmed the arrival of some “officials” who were allowed to go inside the house.

The sources further said that before the arrival of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, an understanding was reached between the CIA and ISI to allow access to the Abbottabad compound and to meet Osama’s widows, who have been in the custody of Pakistani investigation agencies since the killing of the Al Qaeda chief.
