KARACHI, May 13: An official of the City District Government Karachi was shot dead in his office allegedly by a subordinate on Friday, police said.

They said that the incident occurred in the office of the district officer (DO), education works department.

The DO, Sadiq Qureshi, was present in his office when he had an altercation with his subordinate, Zulfiqar Razvi, they added.

The police said that the two officers had a heated argument following which Mr Razvi took out his pistol and fired at his boss and fled.

The wounded DO was rushed to the Aga Khan University Hospital, where he died during treatment.

The police said that suspect Razvi was a resident of Clifton. He left behind his car (ARY-842) and the police seized it.

The victim was a resident of Safoora Goth.

SSP Amir Farooqi said that initial information suggested that the suspect had been transferred and he suspected that the victim officer was behind his transfer.

Till the filing of this report, an FIR pertaining to the incident had not been registered at the Jamshad Quarters police station.
