SUKKUR, Oct 19: The secretary of education, Sindh, on Saturday terminated the services of 10 employees of the education department in Khairpur on charges of embezzlement and other irregularities.
Termination letters were served on all the sacked employees, including, a sub-divisional officer, education, Ali Madad Chang.
Besides charges of embezzling government funds, these employees were charged with preparing bogus service books.
A high-level inquiry was instituted against these employees for their involvement in misappropriating Rs2.22 million.
Others, who were terminated, include PST Piyar Ali and eight clerks Jabir Ali, Ali Khan, Dost Ali, Mohammad Khan, Qurban Ali Chang, Altaf Hussain, Nooruddin Soomro and Sakhi Laddho.
FC platoon changed: Sukkur jail authorities on Saturday changed the entire platoon of the Frontier Constabulary following the complicity of some of their members in aiding the prison break attempt.
Three prisoners, Noor Ali Pathan, Karim Pathan and Gul Jan, tried to escape on Friday. The jail break attempt was foiled.
The IG Prisons, taking serious notice of the incident, has ordered to shift the whole FC platoon with immediate effect.
RESIGNS: The chief of PML (N) Sukkur, Pir Ali Shah, on Saturday tendered resignation from his post and the basic party membership.
Announcing to retire from the politics, Pir Ali Shah accepted his defeat in a press statement. He was the PML (N) candidate from PS-2 against the PPP candidate, Anwer Ali Maher.
He said that he was disheartened by the party workers’ performance in Sukkur.
KILLED: One person was killed and another was injured on Saturday over minor monetary dispute in Syedpur village in Ghotki district.
The incident occurred after one of the participant of the heated debate opened fire on the debtor, Mohammed Umar Dawoodpota. One of his friend, Hakim Ali, was injured.
Later, villagers blocked the National Highway. They were carrying the dead body of the deceased. They dispersed after the police informed them that one of the culprits had been arrested.
