ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: The government is considering introducing career-counselling in educational institutions of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to guide students in choosing subjects that would benefit them in their future profession.

The announcement to this effect was made by Director-General of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Brig Maqsoodul Hassan (retired) here on Saturday.

The idea behind this project is to encourage students to select subjects of their choice because in “our society much emphasis is being given to science subjects while humanities is ignored despite the fact that it was equally important”.

He was speaking at an educational seminar at the Federal Government College for Women, F-7/2, where top-rankers, who passed their intermediate examinations with flying colours, were invited to share their experiences and apprise other students about the story of their success.

As a pilot project, the Federal Government Margalla College for Women, F-7/4, has been entrusted with the job of holding the first-ever seminar at the start of the coming academic session.

The college principal, Farhat Mujtaba, has been authorized to involve faculties of other similar educational institutions and renowned educationists.
