ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan in its meeting on Saturday recommended confirmation of services of 14 Additional Judges of the Lahore High Court and 4 of the High Court of Balochistan, besides, making nomination of 10 new additional judges for the Lahore High Court.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry presided over the meeting of the Commission, the highest forum in the country which has been functional to make appointments to the superior judiciary under the 18th Amendment.

The Commission recommended elevation of six Sessions Judges including Abdul Waheed Khan, Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa, Mohammad Yunus , Ejaz Shah, Abdul Sattar Asghar and Kazim Shamsi besides, nominating four lawyers including Shahzad Ghaiba, Ameenuddin Khan, Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi and Ameen Bhatti as Additional Judges of the LHC.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar, Justice Mohammad Noor Muskanzai and Justice Justice Mustafa Ghulam Mustafa Mengal were the additional judges of High Court of Balochistan whose services have been confirmed.

It also recommended three further names to be appointed as additional Judges in the High Court of Balochistan. These were Abdul Qadir Mengal, Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Hashim Kakar.

Other members of the Commission are Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani and Justice Nasir ul Mulk, senior judges of the apex Court, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq, Minister for Law and Justice Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Pakistan Bar Council member Dr Khalid Ranjha and Justice (retd) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry.

All the four Chief Justices of High Courts including Chief Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Chief Justice Sindh High Court Mushir Alam, Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa have also been a part of the Commission.
