OKARA, Oct 17: A sub-inspector was terminated on Thursday for taking away thousands of rupees in cash, ornaments and two buffaloes from a house on the pretext of arresting proclaimed offenders, some 30 kms from here.
SI Hussain Ali along with seven constables barged into the house of Allah Yar at Chak 30/GD and asked the inmates about the POs. On their refusal and expressing surprise over the raid, the policemen forcibly scooped Rs50,000 in cash and ornaments worth Rs70,000 and fled. Later, policemen threatened Allah Yar of dire consequences when he approached Gogera police station to retrieve his looted items.
The victim moved Lahore High Court which ordered to register a case against the SI.
In another pending writ against Hussain Ali, the LHC judge directed the authorities concerned to register another case against the culprit.
Nazir of Mouza Jauray had filed the writ petition against the SI during his posting in Chuchuk police station.
Meanwhile, SSP Mohammad Aslam Tareen also sacked the SI after registering cases against him. However, the accused SI is still at large.
KILLED: A motorcycle mechanic was killed while his friend sustained injuries on Wednesday evening when their bike collided with a speeding truck on the GT Road.
Tahir Mehmood had gone to mechanic Shahid to get removed the fault of his motorcycle (OK-1976). After the removal of the fault, the mechanic and his friend went to take a trial ride when the accident occurred. Shahid died on the spot while Mehmood received serious injuries. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
DEPRIVED: Armed highwaymen on Thursday deprived two milkmen of their cash and also injured them for holding them out on the GT Road near Renala Khurd.
Mohammad Sarwar and Saleh Mohammad were on their way to sell milk by their truck (LEP-2784). Near Renala, three robbers intercepted them and snatched cash from them. The robbers shot at and injured them seriously for putting up resistance. They were shifted to a local hospital in critical condition. The outlaws made good their escape with Rs225,000 in cash.
