PESHAWAR, Oct 17: The City Municipal and Development Department (CMDD) and the National Logistic Cell (NLC) workers damaged the main distribution line of Sui gas on Thursday during the road expansion work, causing disconnection of the gas facility to several city localities.

Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Ltd (SNGPL) GM Arbab Momin Khan told Dawn that during the road expansion work the workers of the CMDD and the NLC damaged the main distribution line of Sui gas on Jamrud Road near Gora Qabristan at 9am and caused disconnection of facility to Cantonment area, Tehkal and Defence Colony till noon.

“Both the departments also caused hundreds of thousands rupees of losses to the SNGPL,” he added.

“The Sui gas department immediately restored the gas supply to university areas through alternate arrangements and supply to the other affected areas was restored after three hours of hectic work,” the GM added.

He urged the CMDD and NLC authorities to take care of the general public during the road expansion campaign.

The gas leakage also created panic in the surrounding areas and traffic was jammed on the Jamrud Road for more than three hours.
