LAHORE: Peshawar Club earned their first win in the fourth edition of the National Women Football Club Championship on Tuesday.

They toppled Striker FC 2-0 in Group D at Frontier College for Women.

Midfielder Tahira landed the opener in the 29th minute while spearhead Arifa added to the score in the 64th minute.

Frontier had already won Group D at the same arena and with six points, thus entering the 7th National Women Football Championship slated to run at Islamabad's Jinnah Stadium from 17-30 September 2011.

Meanwhile, matches in Group C commenced at Jinnah Stadium, PSB Complex with Margala FC, Islamabad thrashing Hazara Shaheen 10-0. Other teams in Group C are National Champions Young Rising Star, Rawalpindi and debutant Sargodha University.

Having the services of star players Mejzgaan Orakzai and Abeeha Haider, Margala’s goal scorers were Mejzgaan, Muneeza, Asma Sherbaz, Shumaila, Emaan, Sumera and Abeeha.

There will be no match on Wednesday and the event will resume on 21 April with six matches taking place.

Thursday’s fixtures:

Group A (in Karachi)

Karachi Kickers v Marta (3.30 PM), Diya v TC club (5 PM).

Group B (in Lahore)

LSE v LGS (3 PM), LUMS v Sports Sciences (4.30 PM)       

Group C (in Islamabad)

Hazara Shaheen v YRS Layyah (3.30 PM), Margala v Sargodha University (5 PM).
