GHALANAI, April 19: Assuring full cooperation to the security forces and political administration, a jirga of Masud Safi and Dawaizi tribes on Tuesday unanimously decided to impose Rs2 million fine and torch the house of tribesman providing shelter to militants in the area. A large number of elders from different areas of Pandyali and Safi tehsils of Yakaghund subdivision attended the jirga held in Dawaizi with Malak Raza Khan in the chair. Operation in charge Col Gul Hassan of and tehsildar Pandyali Shamsul Hassan also attended the jirga.

The jirga unanimously decided to cooperate with security forces and political administration in establishing government’s writ and flush out militants and their collaborator who were creating law and order situation in the area.

They said militant activities would be discouraged and their supporters would be kicked out.

Col Gul and tehsildar Shams on the occasion lauded the role of tribal elders in making the ongoing operation Brekhna (lightning) against militants in their respective areas successful. They said developmental work would soon be started in the region as peace was fast returning to the troubled areas and militants were fleeing the region.

The security forces had cleared almost 90 per cent of affected areas in Safi and Dawaizi tehsils along the Afghan border, the official calimed. — Correspondent
