Preparation for quota free regime

Published October 17, 2002

KARACHI, Oct 16: Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) has embarked upon a programme to prepare its members for the fast approaching quota free environment.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Zubair Parekh, chairman, Prgmea (south zone), said that the main emphasis of the programme would be to prepare and guide its members to adopt latest manufacturing techniques.

He said such skills would be imparted as preparing in-house designing and launching of brands. He further said that the day’s of bulk and inferior products were gone and the new trend called for selective quality products with well planned manufacturing for which the customers were willing to pay higher prices.

Mr Zubair emphasized that garment exporters must start developing human resources and on-job training, which would help them to improve the quality and reduce the manufacturing time.
