The train from across the border

Thousands of Sikh pilgrims arrived from neighboring India to attend the religious festival of “Besakhi", the Sikh New Year at the shrine of Gurudwara Panja Sahib and Nankana Sahib.

Nankana Sahib is the birthplace of Sikh faith founder Guru Nanak Dev and is located some 75 km southwest of Lahore. The Indian sikh pilgrims thronged the immigration office upon their arrival at Wagah railway station near Lahore. Following are some images of their journey from boarding the train to the joy of reaching Pakistan.

It is good to see that people from India's Punjab are visiting Pakistan, to pay their obeisance at Gurudwara Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev ji. I also want to visit Pakistan, to see the village of my parents who had migrated from Pakistan in August, 1947, at the time partition. Only God knows as to when my wishes shall be fulfilled, as now my parents are no more and visiting that place without them, shall also leave unsatisfied, as who will inform me who was their neighbour at that time, and also at which School, my father got his education etc. Howvere, I want that people of both the countries live in peace and harmoney and our relations improve with each passing day. I also want to make some frineds in Pakistani people, who think alike me - R.D. Bhardwaj , New Delhi
