KARACHI, Nov 13: The district and sessions judge, South, Mohammed Aslam Shaikh, convicted on Tuesday three bandits and awarded them different prison terms.
The judge sentenced accused Raja Jameel to 11 years’ rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs11,000, and his two accomplices, Nasir and Ziauddin, to seven years’ RI with a fine of Rs6,000 each.
The three men were arrested by the Defence police on August 5, 1998 for committing robbery and attacking a police party and for possessing illicit arms.
Jameel would have to undergo an additional 11 months’ RI if he failed to pay the fine. The other two convicts would have to undergo an additional 15 months’ RI each if they defaulted on the payment of fine.
SODOMY CASE: An additional districts and sessions judge, West, Ms Nasim Mansoor, sentenced Hameedullah to seven years’ RI with a fine of Rs25,000 for committing sodomy with a seven-year-old boy in Baldia on March 24, 1998. The convict would have to undergo an additional six months’ imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine.
WEAPONS’ CASE: The district and sessions judge, South, Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan, sentenced a man to a seven years’ RI with a fine of Rs4,000 for possessing two unlicensed AK-47 rifles (Kalashnikov). He would have to undergo an additional four months’ imprisonment if he defaulted on the payment of fine.
