SIALKOT, Oct 13: A PPP activist succumbed to his injuries at a Lahore hospital on Sunday.
Iftikhar Ahmad, 37, was shot at and injured allegedly by PML-Q supporters over an electoral clash in Narowali village (Sialkot Saddar), in NA-111 on Oct 10.
Police registered a case against PML-Q’s six supporters with no arrest.
Meanwhile, police also registered a case against PPP’s candidate form PP-125, Tahir Mahmood Hundali, and his 12 armed accomplices for firing on a polling station set up at the Government Primary School, Variyo.
The accused seriously injuring three people, including Tariq Subhani who is the younger brother of PML-Q candidate from PP-125 Chaudhry Khush Akhtar Subhani. No arrest has yet been made.
INDIAN FIRING: The Indian forces continued firing on border villages in Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyaan, Bajwat, Jammu and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors on Sunday.
According to official sources, no causality was reported.
LISTS: The lists of Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen and councillors, who could not bring ‘enough number’ of voters to the polling stations in Sialkot and Narowal districts on Oct 10, have been sent to the government by intelligence agencies.
Official sources told Dawn on Sunday that the high-ups had already been annoyed with them for not taking any interest in motivating voters during referendum on April 30.
FAULTY FAX: The authorities concerned have yet to replace the fax machine, lying out of order at the PTCL’s office at Sambrial (Daska) Dryport for the last two months.
