LAHORE: The Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that Punjab Government did not play any part in releasing the CIA agent Raymond Davis and that he would have preferred resigning from his post rather than handing him over to the US authorities, DawnNews reported.

Speaking in a press conference after returning from London, Shahbaz said that he appreciate nation for rejecting ‘propaganda’ against the Punjab government in Raymond Davis case.

An American was arrested for the first time and we refused to hand him over to the US despite enormous pressure, we also refused to declare the governor house as a sub-jail, he added.

Six unanswered letters had been sent to the federal government for the deliverance of the vehicle which crashed an innocent citizen Ibad-ur-Rehman to death, said Shahbaz and vowed to pursue the federal government until the matter was resolved.

Few people politicised the Davis’ issue for their personal benefits, they even doubted the purpose of his London trip.

The Punjab chief minister appealed the nation to pray for his elder brother and PML-N chief Mian Nawaz sharif, for health and early recovery, who went through an open heart surgery in London.
