LANDI KOTAL/ GHALANAI, March 25: Militants killed a teenager on charges of spying and destroyed two more schools and a bridge in separate incident of violence in Bara during the last 24 hours. An official of Khyber Agency political administration told Dawn that the bullet-riddled body of 16-year-old Sajjad Ali was found at Spin Qabar area. He was kidnapped from Sipah on Wednesday.

Family sources that that the teenager was executed as he had offered water to the security forces during their routine patrolling in Sipah area a few days ago.

The official said that unidentified militants, meanwhile, blew up two more girls schools in Landi Kotal and Bara tehsils and demolished with explosives another bridge at Akakhel.

They said that a government middle school in Akakhel was blown up on Wednesday night while a girls primary school in Sultankhel area of Landi Kotal was destroyed on Thursday night. Militants have so far destroyed 36 educational institutions in different parts of Khyber Agency.

The number of bridges destroyed in Bara during the last one month has reached 12 with 10 in Akakhel and two in Sipah area. In Alamgudar locality of Bara, security forces along with Anti Narcotics Force demolished three heroin factories and put on fire some 100kg charas seized during a search operation.

Meanwhile, the security forces released at least 300 tribesmen apprehended during a search operation in Shalobar area of Bara last week. However, 80 suspected militants remained in custody with 20 of them stated to be important members of a banned militant organisation.

Also in Sipah and Malikdinkhei areas, nearly 100 tribesmen were rounded up on suspension of having links with banned organisations or providing shelter to militants.

In Ghalanai, the headquarters of Mohmand Agency, the house of the prayer leader of Jamia Mosque was partially damaged when an explosive device went off on Friday.

Sources said that unknown persons planted an explosive device near the house of Maulvi Bilal, which went off with a bang during Thursday night. The main gate and front wall of the house were destroyed. However, no was injured in the incident.

The security forces and administration personnel cordoned off the area and started a search operation. Five local people were arrested under the collective territorial responsibility act of FCR and sent to jail.
