3 killed, 7 hurt in attack

GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Three people were killed and seven wounded late Sunday when militants lobbed a grenade into a crowd of Hindus celebrating a festival at a small town in India’s eastern Assam state, an official said.

The incident occurred in the town of Bongaigaon, some 200 kilometres west of the state capital of Guwahati at about 10:00 pm, while hundreds of devotees were celebrating the annual Durga Puja festival. —AFP
