LAHORE, Oct 12: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed on Saturday to have foiled a massive sabotage plan.

Punjab ANF director Brig Ishfaqur Rehman claimed the force seized a huge cache of arms on Oct 10 soon after the polling ended.

He said an ANF team intercepted a car at Azadi Chowk on a tip off. Taj Muhammad and Mustafa Khan of Peshawar and Saeed Shah of Mardan were arrested.

Brig Ishfaq claimed 30 grenades, 50 detonators, 26 grenade switches, two Kalashnikov, as many pistols, a rifle and over 1,000 bullets were recovered from the car. Besides, he said 273 kilograms of hashish was also recovered from the hidden portions of the car.

Later, he said, two other men, Shabbir Husain and Mir Simmat Khan of Lahore, who had reached there to receive the arms and drugs, were also arrested.

He said the investigators had not so far determined the source and destination of the consignment. Those arrested did not know who gave the arms and the drugs to them and for whom, he said.
