PESHAWAR, March 8: Three persons including two women were killed in two separate incidents in the provincial metropolis on Tuesday.

In the first incident, Ghulam Hussain and his wife Naveeda were killed in Khazana area, Charsadda Road, when they were returning to their home from the city.

Gul Zaree, the mother of the deceased man, told police that her son and daughter-in-law were shot dead by unidentified persons. She said that they had no enmity with anyone.

In the second incident, a woman identified as Islam Bibi was killed inside her house at Aamar Colony in the limits of Paharipura police station.

Juma Gul, the husband of the woman, told police that he was out of home and his children were in school when unidentified persons shot his wife dead.

He did not nominate anyone in the FIR.

HOUSE GUTTED: Fire gutted a three-storey house in Kocha Resaldar Shah Burhan Maidani on Tuesday morning.

An official of Khan Raziq police station said that fire was ignited owing to negligence by the family. A family member lit a candle inside a room that caused the fire, he added.

The owner of the building, Azeem Hussain, told Dawn that fire broke out in the room of his younger brother, who had lit a candle due to power loadshedding.

He said that his brother had married recently and the fire gutted all his household items completely.

He said the fire caused a loss of more than Rs400,000 to them.

The family members, he said, escaped unhurt. He said fire brigade and staffers of Rescue 1122 saved the nearby building from the fire by distinguishing it successfully.
